Food and Wine Tour

A travel solution designed to delight the palate, that includes visiting olive oil mills, wineries and spirits and other workshops of the traditional Sardinian cuisine with direct tasting of the product. The offer may include round-trip transfer and check in 4-stars hotel with a new concept of full-board: breakfast in hotel, then lunch and dinner in 12 different selected local restaurants. The tour will focus on the so-called “Blue Zone” or land of longevity. Ogliastra, with the town of Villagrande Strisaili, holds the record for being the world’s longevity, particularly for men. The determinants are without doubt in the quality of air, water and food, in physical activity, in the outdoors, in healthy habits and healthy ways of coping with stress, in the positive way to face life, in spirituality and the quality of social interactions.

Day 1
We start travel from the chosen location with scheduled flight to Olbia. Upon arrival transfer to Tortolì, hotel check-in and dinner in agriturismo/local selected restaurant for a first approach to local food and wine.

Day 2
In the morning the guide accompanies us to Ilbono at the olive oil mill Demuru, which is pursuing a successful family tradition since 1700. The extra virgin olive oil is obtained by pressing of olives of famous variety Ogliastrina and Bosana, picked using traditional methods. The difference of combining the two varieties has resulted in two different products: Nuelì and Scerì which, standing out for the particular aromatic characteristics while retaining the same organoleptic tasting. During the visit will take place a product tasting.
Lunch in farmhouse/local selected restaurant, followed by free visit to the city, return to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.

Day 3
In the morning the guide takes us to the Cooperativa Pescatori Tortolì, where you can visit the fish culture lake. There will be a short boat trip and direct fishing activities with description of the seafood processing. During the visit will take place a product tasting.
Lunch on site at ittiturismo with self-produced seafood dishes. Then return back to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.

Day 4
In the morning, once come to Villagrande Strisaili, land of longevity, the only place in Europe where oxygen emissions exceed CO2 emissions in the air, we visit a local sausages factory by discovering the art of producing salami and hams.
The good taste, the scent, the tender texture of a good Sardinian ham is the result of a carefully controlled and coordinated supply chain integrated at every stage. During the visit will take place a product tasting.
After lunch in farmhouse/local selected restaurant, in the afternoon we visit the dairy farm Gennargentu Goat Cheese, located in the wide valleys in the shades of green, red, yellow, the intense blue of the sky and water, protected from the superb granite buttresses of Gennargentu, where the voice of the wind speaks of ancient legends and hardworking, earth loving people. Timeless silence, fixed and majestic, that echoes the call of the Queen of the skies, the Golden Eagle, which dominates here. During the visit will take place a product tasting.
Then return back to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.

Day 5
Descending the Ogliastra coast, we head to Tertenia, to visit the brewery Lara, small family-run business of Francesca, bread bakery expert with a passion for the yeasts that led her to this fantastic adventure in 1999. During the visit will take place a product tasting. Lunch on site with self-produced beers, followed by free visit to the city, return to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.

Day 6
We discover Jerzu. The Antichi Poderi winery cellars are located in the gentle slopes that lead down to the sea from the mountains of Gennargentu, on the Ogliastra coast, known for white sands and the sea in rainbow colors. The climate by the vines allows obtaining grapes of intense scents and excellent natural gradation. Jerzu is situated in a corner away from the main roads, at the point that has not been contaminated by other cultures throughout the centuries: hence its extraordinary uniqueness. The landscape that can be admired from the winery cellars, located more than 500 metres above sea level, inaccessible and beautiful, is reflected in the personality of the members, sincere women and men that always put the authenticity first. During the visit there will be a tasting of 4 selected wines. Lunch on site with Antichi Poderi wines, followed by free visit to the city, return to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.

Day 7
We plan morning at our will, choosing between excursions and sport activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking or diving, as well as personalized wellness and SPA treatments or taking advantage of shopping.
After lunch we come again to Ilbono to discover the Taré artisanal liquors, accompanied by typical Sardinian pastries. During the visit will take place a liquor tasting with matching selected local fruit. Then return back to the hotel and dinner in farmhouse/local selected restaurant.
The return to social life might be quite hard, so we recommend a relaxing night walk, a goodbye to nature and a good sleep night because the next day is planned to travel back early in the morning.

Day 8
Breakfast, transfer from Tortolì airport in Olbia with flight to the chosen destination.

  • All enhance the Italian cuisine as the best in the world. But have you tried the Sardinian cuisine? The traditional dish is porceddu (suckling pig). Skilfully slowly cooked on low heat, expertly smoked with juniper branches and myrtle berries, this meat dish tasting experience is definitely a must try.
  • Sardinian cheeses can have delicate flavors and sweets as well as spicy and robust; the most famous are pecorino and ricotta. With that last one are prepared the traditional Seadas, typical dessert garnished with honey or jam.
  • The excellence in Sardinian wine: Cannonau is a deep ruby-red, full-bodied wine with a strong personality, while Vermentino is a fresh and graceful white wine, lively and exuberant.

The traditional food and wine feasts such as Autunno in Barbagia will guide your senses, teasing your taste buds and give you the chance to enjoy the most commonly hidden and almost unknown side of Sardinia, but surely not less interesting and exciting.
